These cars seemed to get more ungainly with every update, but they started out looking pretty decent. What car do you think looked worse every time the company went back to muck with it some more?

I don’t think it looked WORSE, per se, but I like the original design of the FIAT Topolino better than the post-war design. I like the Post-War design too, but some of the Pre-War design cues are just cooler.....like the forward-hinged engine hood :P

I have, but the seller is a delusional nutcase, and I have no wish to deal with them. They actually contacted me several months ago to see what I’d give them for it, sight unseen, no title, not running, I offered 2K. That’s far too low he said! It’s been half a year and he’s now lowered the price to 2.5K and I’m willing to bet if it does sell it’ll go for 2K or less. I also told him what details indicate it is a post ‘65 model, and what parts he’s missing but he just ignored when I told him and kept listing it as a ‘59. Thing is I’m sure if I called him up and he took my offer, when I get there he’d probably change his mind and try and pull something shady, that’s the sort of vibe I got from our interaction and the way his listings have been going.

Because he found an ad online that says that and has that pasted into the photos in his own ad. I checked out that ad too, and again a completely delusional seller, but theirs is actually a very early model, so they’re sort of right.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of these sell for more than 5K (heck restored examples in Japan aren’t even worth much more than that), but people who have them are usually people who don’t collect microcars, and assume anything like this should bring Isetta money.

I could see why some people would think that all microcars bring big money, but it’s really only the Isettas, Heinkels, Messerschmitts, Peels, and the really wacky stuff (Ferves Ranger, Zundapp Jaunus, etc.)

Also, if you type “Daihatsu Trimobile” into Google, right off of the bat, his source is contradicted:

But that ad (where he got his nonsense info) is asking for $14,000. Nevermind he couldn’t sell his for $3500 or $3000 or $2500. That nice one that hasn’t sold for $14,000 is listed for $14,000!

Same guy had an absurdly ugly willys wagon listed for 20K on ebay a while ago. Not even nice ones go for that much. He also had a wrecked Vespa 400 that he kept relisting for 8k.
